Until 1 January 2006 all raw sugar produced in Queensland was collectively sold through the single desk operated by Queensland Sugar Limited (and its predecessors).
More recently, MSF has developed a direct supply relationship with a domestic refiner and, as a result of this relationship, is now fully responsible for the sale of all its sugar production and the management of the risks associated with those sales.
Not unlike MSF, following deregulation, the Mulgrave Central Mill elected to take control of its raw sugar marketing activities and commenced exporting raw sugar directly to a range of refiners located throughout East and South-East Asia.
As a result of this decision and the acquisition of Mulgrave, MSF as the parent entity now services both domestic and export raw sugar markets and is well positioned to continue to build the company's raw sugar marketing capabilities.
